What kind of property do I have to Buy if I want to get in state tuition in texas?

I read that if I Buy property in Texas, I can get in-state tuition if I live in Texas for a year. Do I have to buy and live in a House in Texas to get the in-state tuition, or can I Buy Land in Texas and live elsewhere (still in Texas) to get in-state?

State residency is defined by where you make your permanent residence–that is where you live.
You don’t have to own property, you could rent an apartment. But you have to be living in Texas as a permanent residence–paying bills to a Texas address, paying Texas taxes, voter registration, driver’s license etc. for at least 1 year.
